Privacy & cookies
Updated October 24, 2026.
DiscField is an independent disc golf resource. This page explains the information used to operate the site and measure readership.
Cookie-free traffic statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page views, visits, referring pages, countries, device and browser types, and page performance. It runs independently of the Google Analytics choice below, including when you decline Google Analytics.
Cloudflare describes this service as using no analytics cookies, local storage or visitor fingerprinting. Its beacon removes query strings and fragments from page and referrer addresses. We do not add names, email addresses, saved bag contents or player notes to these statistics. Visits are a traffic metric, not an exact count of individual people, and browser blocking can prevent measurement.
Cloudflare receives the measurement requests and processes them on its infrastructure. Read how Cloudflare Web Analytics works and Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Your Google Analytics choice
How we handle Google Analytics depends on where you are. When you open DiscField, our server looks up the country your connection comes from and tells your browser only whether to ask before using Google Analytics. We don't store the country or send it to Google Analytics.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics stays off until you choose “Allow analytics”. We also ask first when we can't tell where you are.
- Everywhere else, including the United States, Google Analytics is on by default. You can turn it off at any time with “Decline analytics” in Privacy settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline and don't load Google Analytics.
Declining doesn't limit access to our guides, disc records or tools. Use “Privacy settings” at the bottom of any page to change your choice.
We store your choice in your browser under discfield-analytics-consent-v1. A decline stays until you change it or clear this site's storage. Permission lasts up to 180 days. After that, visitors in the regions where we ask first see the question again. The answer about whether to ask is kept under discfield-consent-region-v1 until you close the tab. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only to the current page.
What Google Analytics collects
When it is on, Google Analytics processes page visits, cookie identifiers and technical information about your browser and device to help us understand readership. Our page-view events include the page address without query parameters or fragments, the page title and the referring site's origin. We do not send names, email addresses or comparison selections in these events.
While it is on, we also measure clicks on the shop links in our buying sections. These events include the catalog disc identifier and retailer domain, along with the same page and referring-site information. We do not include the destination's full address, search text or your saved bag and notes. A recorded shop click does not tell us whether you purchased anything.
The Google Analytics cookies _ga and _ga_6C2F71GHPV help distinguish browsers and sessions. We configure their lifetime to 180 days without extending it on each visit. Our integration disables Google signals and advertising personalization signals. We have no advertising tags or user accounts on this site.
Google receives analytics data and may process it outside your country. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Turning Google Analytics off
Choose “Decline analytics” in Privacy settings to stop future Google Analytics measurement. We remove the Google Analytics cookies accessible to this site and reload the page if Google Analytics was running. This does not erase data already received by Google or switch off the separate cookie-free Cloudflare statistics. You can also clear this site's cookies and browser storage.
Your saved bag
Bag Check saves the discs, roles and notes you enter in this browser so you can return to them. It works whether you accept or decline analytics. Use “Clear bag” to empty the saved bag, or clear this site's browser storage to remove it. There is no server account or automatic sync.
When you copy a bag link, the bag and notes are included in the link fragment. Anyone you share it with can read them. We do not include these fragments or bag contents in our analytics events. Avoid putting personal or sensitive information in bag notes.
Color theme
DiscField follows your device's light or dark appearance by default. If you choose Light or Dark using the color theme button at the top of the page, we save that choice in this browser. Choose System to clear the saved choice and follow your device again. This setting is not sent to our server or analytics. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice lasts for the current visit.
Flight animation preference
When you open a disc on the Flight Chart page, choose “Replay flight”, or change “Animate flight”, we save your animation choice in this browser. Opening a disc or choosing Replay starts the drawing, even if your device defaults to reduced motion. You can turn animation off on any chart or clear this site's browser storage to return to your device's motion preference. This setting is not sent to analytics.
Store maps and your location
The store directory asks for your device location only when you choose “Stores near me”. If you allow access, we calculate approximate distances in your browser. We do not save your coordinates, put them in the page address or send them to our server or analytics. Use “Clear my location” or leave the page to clear this location from the directory.
The interactive map loads only when you choose “Show shop locations”. Your browser then requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives connection information such as your IP address and the map areas requested. The map shows store locations; we do not send your device coordinates to the map service. Read the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Shop websites and directions links open external services when you follow them.
Browser extension
Our free browser extension, DiscField: Disc Golf Flight Numbers, works the same way and asks for the same permission in each store we publish it in: Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Opera add-ons and the Naver Whale Store. It shows the flight numbers of the discs on DiscField's own list, which is part of the extension. You can type a disc name, or select one on a web page and choose “Look up … on DiscField” from the right-click menu.
The extension only sees what you type into it and the text you send it with that menu item. It has no access to the pages you visit or to your browsing history. The search runs inside your browser: the extension makes no network requests, loads no code from the internet and has no account or analytics, so nothing you look up reaches us or anyone else. Its one permission, contextMenus, adds the right-click menu item.
It keeps one setting, the throwing style you choose for the flight sketch, in the extension's own storage in your browser. Removing the extension deletes it.
Opening a disc or a tool from the extension is an ordinary visit to DiscField, covered by the rest of this page. The link carries a campaign tag that names the store (utm_source=edge-extension, opera-extension or whale-extension). Our analytics events leave out URL parameters, so the tag is not added to them.
Hosting and external links
Cloudflare hosts DiscField and processes connection information needed to deliver pages, such as IP addresses and request details. Cloudflare also works out an approximate country from your IP address; we use it only for the Google Analytics question above. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. Manufacturer and retailer links lead to separate websites with their own privacy practices.
