What the DDx flight numbers suggest
Speed 12 is a distance driver rating. Recreational players usually see the rated flight only with a fast, clean throw. Thrown slower, a disc this fast fades early and loses distance.
Turn -1 and fade 2 describe a stable flight: a fairly straight line with a modest finish, the easiest shape to aim. The -1 turn means it is rated to drift a little early in the flight when thrown at full speed, and the fade of 2 means a clear finish as it slows down. Those directions are for a right-handed backhand; a forehand or a left-handed backhand mirrors them.
Glide 6 is on the high side for a distance driver in our database. A high glide rating usually means the disc stays up longer for the same throw, which adds distance but can carry past a tight landing zone. The rim is 2.3 cm wide (about 0.91 in), a typical width for a distance driver. A rim this wide usually calls for a firm power grip.
Try Discs, our catalog provider, lists the DDx as discontinued, so you may only find it used or in old stock. The ratings still help you understand a copy you already own and find a current disc that flies the same way.
