What the Speed Demon flight numbers suggest
Speed 11 is a fast fairway driver rating. It needs a reasonably fast, clean throw before it flies as rated; slower throws turn less and fade sooner.
Turn -0.5 and fade 3 describe an overstable flight: little movement to the right and a dependable hook at the end, which helps in wind and on shots that must end left. The -0.5 turn is close to neutral, with only a hint of early movement at full speed, and the fade of 3 means a strong finish, more so into a headwind. Those directions are for a right-handed backhand; a forehand or a left-handed backhand mirrors them.
Glide 4 is on the low side for a distance driver in our database. A low glide rating usually means a flight that drops sooner, which can make the disc easier to place on short shots. The rim is 2.2 cm wide (about 0.87 in), a typical width for a distance driver. A rim this wide usually calls for a firm power grip.
Try Discs, our catalog provider, lists the Speed Demon as discontinued, so you may only find it used or in old stock. The ratings still help you understand a copy you already own and find a current disc that flies the same way.
