What the Triceratops flight numbers suggest

Speed 3 is a putter rating. A disc this slow flies a short, controllable line and rewards a smooth release more than arm strength.

Turn -3 and fade 1 describe an understable flight: it moves right early in the flight before the finish, the shape slower arms and hyzer flips rely on. The -3 turn means it is rated to turn noticeably at full speed, which suits slower arms, hyzer flips and rollers, and the fade of 1 means a light finish as it slows down. Those directions are for a right-handed backhand; a forehand or a left-handed backhand mirrors them.

Glide 3 is typical for a putt and approach disc in our database. Glide is the rating that changes least between similar discs; plastic and weight matter more for how long it stays up. The rim is 1 cm wide (about 0.39 in), a typical width for a putt and approach disc. A rim this thin fits a fan grip or a putting grip.

Try Discs, our catalog provider, lists the Triceratops as discontinued, so you may only find it used or in old stock. The ratings still help you understand a copy you already own and find a current disc that flies the same way.
