What the Stego flight numbers suggest

Speed 3 is a putter rating. A disc this slow flies a short, controllable line and rewards a smooth release more than arm strength. Our catalog provider lists it as a midrange; speed 3 is slower than the typical midrange in our database (median speed 5).

Turn 1 and fade 4 describe an overstable flight: little movement to the right and a dependable hook at the end, which helps in wind and on shots that must end left. The positive turn of 1 means the maker rates it to resist turning even when thrown hard, and the fade of 4 means a strong finish, more so into a headwind. Those directions are for a right-handed backhand; a forehand or a left-handed backhand mirrors them.

Glide 1 is on the low side for a midrange in our database. A low glide rating usually means a flight that drops sooner, which can make the disc easier to place on short shots. The rim is 1 cm wide (about 0.39 in), narrower than most midranges in our database. A rim this thin fits a fan grip or a putting grip.
