What the Griffin flight numbers suggest
Speed 5 is a midrange rating. Most players can bring a disc this fast up to speed, so the rated turn and fade are close to what you will see.
Turn 1 and fade 3 describe an overstable flight: little movement to the right and a dependable hook at the end, which helps in wind and on shots that must end left. The positive turn of 1 means the maker rates it to resist turning even when thrown hard, and the fade of 3 means a strong finish, more so into a headwind. Those directions are for a right-handed backhand; a forehand or a left-handed backhand mirrors them.
Glide 3 is on the low side for a midrange in our database. A low glide rating usually means a flight that drops sooner, which can make the disc easier to place on short shots. The rim is 1.7 cm wide (about 0.67 in), wider than most midranges in our database.
Try Discs, our catalog provider, lists the Griffin as discontinued, so you may only find it used or in old stock. The ratings still help you understand a copy you already own and find a current disc that flies the same way.
