What the D1 Max flight numbers suggest
Speed 13 is a distance driver rating. Recreational players usually see the rated flight only with a fast, clean throw. Thrown slower, a disc this fast fades early and loses distance.
Turn -1 and fade 3 describe an overstable flight: little movement to the right and a dependable hook at the end, which helps in wind and on shots that must end left. The -1 turn means it is rated to drift a little early in the flight when thrown at full speed, and the fade of 3 means a strong finish, more so into a headwind. Those directions are for a right-handed backhand; a forehand or a left-handed backhand mirrors them.
Glide 5 is typical for a distance driver in our database. Glide is the rating that changes least between similar discs; plastic and weight matter more for how long it stays up. The rim is 2.3 cm wide (about 0.91 in), a typical width for a distance driver. A rim this wide usually calls for a firm power grip.
Try Discs, our catalog provider, lists the D1 Max as discontinued, so you may only find it used or in old stock. The ratings still help you understand a copy you already own and find a current disc that flies the same way.
